KENNEWICK, Wash. – May 30, 2018 – To boost skin cancer awareness in the Tri-Cities, Northwest Cancer Clinic is hosting a talk about skin cancer, risk factors and treatment on Friday, June 1 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. In addition, NWCC will also host a free skin cancer screening on Friday, June 8 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Both events will be held at Northwest Cancer Clinic, located at 7379 W. Deschutes Avenue, Suite 100, Kennewick, WA 99336.
Board Certified Dermatologist, Sidney B. Smith, M.D., F.A.A.D. with DermaHealth, will be talking at the event and performing the skin cancer screenings.
Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. According to data from the Washington State Cancer Registry, the rates have been increasing by about two percent per year since 2000. According to the Department of Health, Washington is in the top 10 states for the highest rates of newly diagnosed melanoma cases.
